Flood Risk Assessments (FRA)

A site-specific Flood Risk Assessment (SSFRA) report is a planning document prepared for a proposed development. It assesses the sources, likelihood and consequences of flooding at the subject site and shows how flood risk will be managed or mitigated.

The SSFRA report should be prepared to the appropriate level of assessment and in accordance with The Planning System and Flood Risk Management.

The SSFRA report, in general, includes:

  • Site walkover and inspection
  • Desktop study
  • Initial assessment of the identified flood sources
  • Hydrology Assessment and Hydraulic Modelling
  • Detailed flood risk assessment
  • Surface water management
  • Flood alleviation measures
  • Evacuation plan
